"Sublimation" is a cooperative tower defense game which was developed for Microsoft Surface platform. The game was intended to be played in public places and was designed to combine both the digital multi-touch interaction and the physical interaction through tagged objects.
This project was developed during the Interaction Design Project course at Chalmers University in 2010
The project was quite challenging in terms of interaction design. First of all, the form of the surface table required a UI design which allows the users to approach the game in all directions and in 360 degrees. Secondly, because of Surface's multi-touch capabilities, the interface would have to support the multiple user inputs at the same time. Lastly, the issue of integrating the physical objects into the game and user interface by using ID tags was completely a new thing for us to tackle in our design. The game was exhibited between 4 and 7 May 2010 in Lindholmen Science Park for the IDxPO exhibition.
This project was carried out by a group of 5 people. In our team there were 2 graphic designers who worked on the graphics and the visuals of the game, and 2 game designers who worked on the mechanics of the gameplay.
I worked as an interaction designer and a front-end developer and mainly worked on the design and development of the user interactions through the menu interface.
